#8 SUPERSAMPLING (F1)

The ZIP file now has a supersampling feature that is designed to complement its novel anti-aliasing system and elegantly solve some LOD (level of detail) problems. The anti-aliasing with this feature is essentially perfect. It also makes the image sharper and makes foliage fuller. Sword of Moonlight is very good at keeping the 3D "drawing" simple in terms of not placing a burden on your system. However supersampling works by really drawing the game to a 4 times larger resolution than the one you choose in the Options. I don't actually know, but I suspect this won't overburden your system to the point of degrading the frame rate if your system is able to play average commercial games.

To try it just press the F1 key. I was saving that key for a help system (standard for F1) but this seemed like a better use for the key. The eventual game manual system can be rolled into the system menu that will utilize the Esc key.

I'm making slow progress, as usual. Lately I've been trying to finish an expansion to the weapons and magic buttons. This supersampling system was a two day diversion that I felt was worth it. One more thing is it overrides the anisotropic filtering setting to be 4x because (1) to draw 4x as many pixels it helps to free up your GPU somehow and this kind of filtering applied to every pixel can be costly, and (2) in my tests on my PC I couldn't really tell a benefit from increasing the setting to 8x or 16x, which is understandable because the supersampling adds more sample points and so decreases the need for anisotropic filtering. It needs more study.
